This is a poster I was playing around with. Its not an official tour poster, but I thought the  image would be a opposition to the tone of the band. All in all I'm really pleased with the image and the type.

just making brushes in photoshop...please dont judge...

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

The image at the right was another Image I pulled from my handy facebook. I was basically using the image to practice using the pen tool and and the cut and paste feature. I dropped the photo in into photoshop and adjusted the lighting using the dodge tool. I darkened the image on the farther right with the burn tool to see the differences in lighting. I cut out the image, opened a new document in photoshop and dropped the image to the left into it. From there I just kind of messed with the lighting a little more and then figure out how to create a transparent layer. I then started scribbling with a brush tool.

I went to my facebook and pulled an image of me in a stairwell. The image was crooked so I put it in photoshop and put a box around the image, free transformed it and made it straight. After this I had to fix the four corners so I used the cloning tool to attempt to make all corners correct...I kind of failed...anyway. I went back online and looked for pictures of wrestlers being interviewed, Why? I dont know. I ended up choosing a picture of Larry king. I opened a new document and put ol larry in it. I used the pen tool to cut around larry and I selected the line? I think thats what I did anyway. And I cut him out. I flipped him horizontally so he would face me in the new picture. After I did that, I put larry in and changed the image size so her would kind of match up. That didnt work out either. I got frustrated and Left to go get pizza.

This will be the blog I use for my intro to computer graphics class. While I'm in this class I hope to further my learning of various digital tools in order to...um...open up more options for my...um personal work....does that sound ok...I'm horrible with speaking....

I basically want to keep up with the digital age and I feel that using the computer as a tool for art making is essential in order to compete with others in the art world. I'm really interested in design as a philosophy in a sense that I'm curious to understand how people react to the various principles of art. How does a person react to a certain line if its placed in front of a certain color? What type of reaction will I get when I mix this type of text with a certain image and then adjust the opacity of the image? I'm very much intimidated and interested by design for the reason that there are infinite things a person can do with design.

I found this magazine on the ground a few days ago and it got me really excited about design.
